Managers Memo's Week 1

FIRST TEAM MEETING

Now that all rosters are set, spend this week planning your team (player & parent) meeting to review the seasonal objectives and club/team expectations. Here is a brief of how to conduct your meeting:
1 - INTRODUCTION(s)
- of Coach(es) & Team Manager
2 - SEASONAL OBJECTIVES
e.g:
- To develop our passing out of the back
- To focus on scoring more goals than we did last winter
- To qualify for Tier 2
- To promote 2 members of this squad to the team above by the outdoor season.
3 - TRAVEL PLANS
i.e. Any tournaments or training tours you have outlined for your team.
4 - PLAYER EXPECTATIONS
e.g
- Arrive 15 minutes before training
- Arrive 45 minutes before
- Attire for practices & arriving to games
- Always greet coaches & team mates with a handshake
5 - GRIEVANCE PROTOCAL
"THE 24 HOUR RULE"... possibly the most vital one to implement to diffuse passionate parents. Here's the best change of communication.
Player ->Parent -> Team Manager -> Coach -> Technical Committee
However personally, with players playing U14+ encourage the Player-> Coach route.
6 - NO COACHING FROM THE SIDELINES!
Vital in order to have the player listen to their coach and not their coach + their parent.... very confusing and massively detrimental if not all on the same page.

TRAINING SCHEDULE

We gave sent out the club training and academy times (highlighted in yellow). We are hoping this is just a temporary measure to be back in school gyms, as we await the finalization of our new indoor training centre ... hopefully before Christmas!! Please bare with us, as with 40+ teams with 2-3 sessions per week, it is like juggling with soup to accommodate everybody.

GAME/PRACTICE/ACADEMY CONFLICT

Please see the process below when a game/practice or a game/academy conflict arise.

1) Determine if you have any games/practices conflicts by looking at your CMSA game schedule and practice schedule

2) Look for an alternate time/location on the practice schedule that will work for your team for that particular week you have a conflict

3) Login to the Foothills database and get the contact information of the coaches you want to trade practices with.

4)Contact the coach/manager to initiate a trade for the week of the game conflict

All teams should work together to work around the game/practice conflicts.

If any teams have a game/academy conflict, please contact me directly, and we will provide 2 options for you.

1) reschedule the academy session or

2) send an academy coach out to one of the team practices.

Remember, this schedule is temporary, and we hope to have a much flexible schedule as we get into the November/December months.

Academy starts on Monday October 17th

TEAM REPRESENTATIVES MEETING NOTES:

Please take the time to review the attached Team representative meeting notes, for those of you that have attended this meeting, you should already have this information, however, please review the attachment, as this is also a helpful resource for your upcoming season..

Welcome to the Indoor 2011/2012 Season

Parents/Players

We just wanted to communicate the next stage in the process as we head into the Indoor 2011/2012 season.

Initial Contact:

All team coaches have been allocated to their appropriate teams. The next stage will be for the coaches to contact their team, and introduce themselves as coach, and schedule the first team practice for the team to get together. This process is expected to be done by the end of the week. If players have NOT been contacted by their team coach by Friday October 7th, please contact the Foothills office at 403 225-9388 or by email at foothills@telus.net.

Training Schedule:

The training schedule will be assigned to the team coaches by Wednesday October 5th, and the CMSA game schedule will be released by Tuesday October 11th, with the season to begin on Saturday October 15th

CMSA Player Cards:

Please get your CMSA player ID cards back from our old team, or if it has expired, please contact CMSA to make an appointment for a new player ID card. U6, U8 and U10 players will NOT need a CMSA Player ID card.

This is still the pre-season stage of the evaluations, and player movement is still a possibility on all teams.

Please be patient as we have new coaches to the club, and we are working together to ensure ALL teams are contacted by their team coach by the end of the week and out on the field to prepare for the upcoming season.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know.

Thank You
